This coming Sunday 16 October, the three islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Ceningan, & Nusa Lembongan celebrate and honour the Dewa Baruna – the ruler of the seas on what is called “Nyepi Laut”, or Sea Seclusion Day. This day of homage falls on the fourth full moon of the Balinese calendar where all sea activities are ceased (including transport to and from the islands & water activities), and is a day for meditation and contemplation to respect the sea that surrounds and sustains the three islands. At Muntigs Bar & Restaurant at Batu Karang Lembongan Resort & Day Spa, we embrace the unique cultural traditions that characterize our island home. From the beautiful view the sea provides us, to the range of activities we can all enjoy from our water environment, it is essential to respect and participate in the local rituals. There will be ceremonies and other local activities held on this day, and at Muntigs Bar & Restaurant, we offer the perfect venue to relax and admire the Badung Strait view to Mount Agung. Please come visit us, and do not hesitate to ask one of our local staff about this traditional day that has been celebrated since the 1600’s.
